Jurassic World: Dominion Review

Hey there,

So with Jurassic World: Dominion being released last week, I got the chance to see it today, but if you still haven’t had the chance to see it, you might want to skip this review as it is not spoiler-free.

I went into the cinema thinking it wasn’t going to be the best and whilst it wasn’t my favourite from the trilogy it’s still a strong film. I also liked how everything got laid to bed and it was an excellent ending to the trilogy.

I absolutely loved the idea at the end of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom that dinosaurs happen to be living among humans, but this film barely explores the idea and takes place largely in the woods and another Dinosaur facility.

It was fun to see the original trio of Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum return in a substantial role.

The dinosaur fights were super good and it was nice to see some cool fights with not just a t-rex for once.

Chris Pratt is on good form as Owen while Bryce Dallas Howard is great as Claire. Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neil are fantastic as Dr. Ellie Sattler, Dr. Ian Malcolm and Dr. Alan Grant. DeWanda Wise, Mamoudou Athie, Isabella Sermon, Campbell Scott, BD Wong, Omar Sy, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, Scott Haze and Dichen Lachman provide solid support. Jeff Goldblum stole the show, he carried the film for me, I'm a massive fan of his and was looking forward to seeing him as a bit more of a role in this film.

The only thing that would have made it a truly amazing film for me was if they had an epic death, maybe Ellie or Alan, who was in the original Jurassic Park. A main character's death tugs on the heartstrings of the viewer.

Even though this film did have its flaws, there is still fun to be had.

Comment and let me know what you thought of the film, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Stay safe.
