Hey,
I have just gotten back from seeing Halloween Ends and I'm writing this review tonight whilst my thoughts are still fresh in my mind.
So Halloween Ends is set four years after the events of Halloween 2018 and Laurie is trying to move on with her life, she now lives with her granddaughter in a house, but when a young man who is accused of killing a child he was babysitting, it ignites a cascade of violence and terror that will force Laurie to confront the evil she can't control once and for all.
So before I voice my opinions I want to tell you I am a massive fan of Halloween films, they are my favorite horror series and I have been waiting to see this film since I left the cinema screening for Halloween Kills last year, but I left the cinema tonight feeling disappointed and deflated.
I thought I was signing up to see an epic showdown between Micheal & Laurie not just 20 minutes of them, feeling like they were cameos and the rest of the film being about the story of a new character.
I feel a bit let down in a way, I really thought that Laurie would have been on the hunt for Michael seen as in Halloween Kills, Micheal killed her daughter, heading to a showdown to end a four decade battle between them tieing everything together, but I think it was flawed in a way that it suffers from focus, intention, and development, the whole Corey storyline was just boring in my opinion, like what was the point in this character if he was just going to die.
I find it frustrating that on social media people framing people who didn't love this film as small minded or not liking it because it is different. I liked that it was different, I just didn't think the script was well written.
With this film being the last film with Laurie and probably the last film with Blumhouse (because come on, you know they're going to remake or reboot Halloween in a few years) I feel upset that I didn't love it more. I love this franchise and I will miss it, I just wish it went out on a stronger note.
