Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Review

Hey there,

So it’s been over two months now since Doctor Strange in the Multiverse has been released, but if you still haven’t had the chance to see it, you might want to skip this review as it is not spoiler free.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness follows the doctor/master of the mystic arts as he protects America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), a teenager who has the ability to jump between different dimensions, from Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen).

Me and my friend went to see this the second week that is was released and I was super excited to see it. Doctor Strange is my favourite hero from the MCU. So this film was definitely one of my most anticipated films of the year. So, because of the trailers and media before this, I went in with an idea of what this film was going to be like and the actual final film was nothing like it. Doctor Strange's second solo film feels like a fun (And yet very creepy) multidimension adventure that while slow, remains gripping throughout.

It dealt with a lot of interesting ideas (Wanda being an antagonist, America Chavez being chased through different dimensions, the multiverse in general) really well and it didn't feel unfocused at all.

I just kind of didn’t like how they included Patrick Stuart’s voice in the trailer, giving it away that he was going to be in the film. I would of loved if they left that out and you heard ‘we should tell him the truth’ and he appeared I think that would of gave the fans so much more of a thrilling experience, but I did love the way we where introduced to the Illuminati (Patrick's Stewarts Professor X, Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter, Lashana Lynch's Captain Marvel, Anson Mount's Black Bolt and John Krasinki's Mr Fantastic) only to have Wanda slaughter them all could have felt cheap but it is an awesome way of showing how far-gone she is and makes her arc more impactful.

I loved the Sinister Strange scene with the musical notes I thought that was super cool and I would of loved to see him longer as the villain in the film, I’m being first to suggest a spin off because I really would of like to see more of him. Zombie Strange was amazing. I really could not take him serious, when he was really being serious.

Benedict Cumberbatch continues to show how good he is in this role with a great performance. Xochitl Gomez is also fantastic as America Chavez and shares very obvious chemistry with Cumberbatch. Elizabeth Olsen is also very menacing as Wanda. Benedict Wong (Wong), Rachel McAdams (Christine) , Julian Hiliard (Billy) and Jett Klyne (Tommy) also provide very good support in this film

Sam Raimi feels like the perfect choice to direct this film as he (And cinematographer John Mathiseon) adds this very eerie tone which works so well for the story being told.

I could talk about Doctor Strange for hours, and whilst it did have its problems, I still feel like it is still a solid film in the MCU.

Thank you so much for reading and please comment and tell me you thoughts on the film, I’d love to here.

Stay safe.
